Cocoa cake350°FStir as little as possible

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda dissolved in a little hot water
  • ½ cup cocoa
  • 2 cups flour

Method

  1. Mix: Combine the ingredients, stirring as little as possible.
  2. Bake: Bake in a moderate (350°F) oven. The card gives no pan or time; see our suggestion.

As written: “350 %” is the writer’s way of writing 350 degrees. The card has no salt or vanilla and no mixing order.

Our suggestion (our note, not part of the card)
  • Beat the eggs and sugar, stir in the sour cream and the soda water, then fold in the cocoa and flour sifted together.
  • Bake in a greased 9-inch square or 8x8 pan for about 35 to 40 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. A pinch of salt and a teaspoon of vanilla are good additions.
