Cheese Cookies
Cream cheese butter cookies topped with a walnut half or a candied cherry
Ingredients
- 1 cup soft butter or oleo
- 3 oz. Philadelphia cream cheese
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- 2½ cups flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
- ½ cup walnuts, chopped
Topping
- Walnut halves or candied cherries
Method
- Blend: Blend the butter and cream cheese, then add the sugar a little at a time.
- Mix: Add the egg yolk and vanilla, then the flour, salt, nutmeg and walnuts.
- Chill and shape: Chill the dough, then roll into small balls and press each one down with a walnut half or candied cherry.
- Bake: Bake 15 minutes at 400°F.
As written: The first word of “soft butter” is hard to read. The card doesn’t say to grease the cookie sheet; this dough is rich enough that it usually doesn’t need it.
Our suggestion (our note, not part of the card)
- Start checking at 10 to 12 minutes; at 400°F small cookies brown fast.
